Frequently asked questions

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

When should I start the Postnatal Body Restore course?

We understand just how difficult it can be to find the time and energy to compete a course when caring for a newborn, therefore it is our aim to make the course as easy going as possible whilst being careful to ensure all the important information is included. Most videos are therefore around 6-8 minutes with the longest being just over 13 minutes.

In an ideal world, we would recommend starting the course a few weeks before you are due to give birth so you can complete the course in a more relaxed manner and begin to implement the advice straight away after having your baby. The exercise section is designed for the postnatal phase so you can watch to familiarise yourself with this before having your baby or leave until after you've had your baby.

The truth is though, it's never too late to start! Some of the course content may no longer be relevant later on in your postnatal journey but the majority of the content provides you with important strategies that we should be implementing for a lifetime.

Does this course replace having a face to face pelvic health Physiotherapy appointment?

If it is accessible and affordable, we would always suggest having a face to face pelvic health physiotherapy appointment. This is particularly important if you are experiencing significant symptoms of incontinence, prolapse, back/pelvic pain or still have a large diastasis over 3cm at 8+ weeks postnatal.

That being said, face to face physiotherapy is not always accessible or affordable and I feel it does a disservice to women to say they should only see someone face to face. This course will equip you with many self management strategies which for a number of women will be all that is required to recover well and is certainly a great deal better than having no professional input at all.

From my experience it is also very difficult to cover the depth of information women need in just one or two face to face sessions, therefore this course is an excellent accompaniment to a face to face appointment which will allow you to get more out of your visit.

How do I know this content is safe for me?

The Postnatal Body Restore online course has been designed by a fully registered UK physiotherapist with specialist training in pregnancy and postnatal rehabilitation. The content is all evidence based and suggested to be safe for the majority of women.

Occasionally complications mean that some of the content may not be appropriate. It is therefore important to have gained medical clearance before taking part in any of the recommended strategies or exercises. We include a video explaining how best to gain informed medical clearance from your healthcare provider.
